  • Looking for the Perfect Match?

Filed under: Uncategorized by grocerybike @ 9:10 pm |

I was reading this post on starting a blog and it had some good advice on dating. She makes the point that you need to start by narrowing the focus. You can go from there.

“This is like dating. Pick something that seems good, and if it isn’t, try again…As in dating, you’ll know when you’ve found one that’s the right fit …This is great advice, but you already know that if you look for a perfect match you’ll never actually go on a date.”

Be sure you read the perfect match link on frumster.com.

Are you hung up on finding a perfect wife or husband, so much that you never actually go on a date? No one is ever exactly what you’re looking for. I’ve found the best thing is to remind yourself not to jump to conclusions. We’ve all had times we thought we found the perfect person and they turned out not very inspiring. Or, we judged someone as not very desirable only to find them an incredible person.

One of my favorite people on my mission was Walt. My companion thought nothing of him and passed him by. I went out of my way to talk to him. Eventually we got to teach him the gospel and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I could’ve judged him as not ready or unwilling or something else, but I just decided to get to know him. I’m so glad I did. It now means even more to me that he ended up marrying a single mom in the ward. A little boy got a dad, a woman found a great husband.

I’ve started dating again after a long on/off relationship ended for good. For the first time in a while, I’m actually looking forward to dating. Now I’ve just got to pry my hands off the keyboard and start meeting real live single people (rather than chatting with my married friends online).
